Head Instructor & Owner:
Leonardo "Gloglo" De Seixas (Fourth Degree Black Belt)
I was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and began training in 1989 at the age of 13. I first trained at the headquarters of Grandmaster Helio Gracie, Gracie Humaita, located inside of my school Colegio Padre Antonio Vieira. I received private and group classes from Masters Rolker and Royler Gracie. In 1992, I moved to Barra da Tijuca, and started training with the founder of both Gracie-Barra and the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation, Master Carlos Gracie Jr. I graduated Black Belt in late 2000 after nearly ten years and received my Black Belt from Master Carlos Gracie Jr.
At Gracie-Barra, I had the privilege of training with partners were of some of the greatest Jiu-Jitsu fighters in the world, such as: Roberto "Gordo", Alexandre "Soca", Antonio "Nino" Schembri, Vinicius "Draculino", Helio "Soneca", Mauricio Mariano "Tinguinha" and many others as well as Gracie family members such as; Renzo, Ryan, Ralph , Roger and others.
My high level of training allowed me to become a heavy-weight world class fighter with the agility and technical skills of a light-weight. I was the head instructor in one of the academy's affiliated with the famous Gracie Barra Academy in Rio de Janeiro (1996-2007) instructing students over the past 15 years and has developed many Jiu-Jitsu Champions. I also worked at the Confederation of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (CBJJ), where I gained valuable experience organizing the Brazilian, Pan American and World Championships, contributing to the development of Jiu-Jitsu in general.
Today I have nothing but appreciation for the over 25 years of experience and direct contact with Jiu-Jitsu, as a student, competitor, teacher, and tournament organizer. I can attest that Jiu-Jitsu has contributed in a very positive manner, the development of my character, morals, and lifestyle. I transfer this knowledge daily to all of my students and friends, providing them with the same opportunities and benefits that I have had as a Jiu-Jitsu practitioner.
